UC Riverside vs. USC Game Notes (PDF)
The Highlanders tough early-season schedule continues this Tuesday as they travel to the Galen Center to face the USC Trojans. UC Riverside opened the 2009-10 season on the road Saturday evening with a 67-51 loss to New Mexico.
The game is a homecoming of sorts for UCR junior swingman Kyle Austin (pictured) who began his collegiate career at USC in 2006-07.
The Highlanders and Trojans have met three times previously, all at USC’s Galen Center. The teams signed a three-year deal this past offseason that will see the Trojans play their first-ever game on UC Riverside’s campus during the 2010-11 season.
The last time these teams squared off against one another was during the 2007-08 season, Jim Wooldridge’s first year as head coach of the Highlanders.
Only two players from each team’s current rosters played in that game: UC Riverside’s Jalonni Diggs, (10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists) and Sean Cunningham (5, 7, 4), both of whom started the game; and USC starter Dwight Lewis (6, 2, 4) and Ryan Weatherll (1 minute).
