RIVERSIDE - Father knows best, indeed. Emmanuel Ngula can run. His raw talent and his Kenyan heritage all but demand it. After all, aren't all Kenyans runners the moment they leave the womb? But Daniel Kithoka, his dad, had to convince Emmanuel that running was his ticket to a brighter future. The family had moved from Kenya to the United States in 2001, when Emmanuel was 9, and he grew up an Americanized teenager who decided that running for its own sake was tedious and not nearly as enjoyable as basketball.

Highlanders Host Big West Conference Championships On Saturday, Oct. 31
For the second time in as many years, and for the fifth time since the Highlanders joined the Big West Conference in 2001, UC Riverside's Ag/Ops Course will play host to the Big West Cross Country Championships on October 31 with the men's race beginning at 9 am PT. A year ago, the Highlanders tied their best-ever conference finish taking third for the second straight season behind an All-Conference performance by Michael Buell (pictured).
