The UC Riverside men's and women's cross country teams are traveling to Eugene, OR on Saturday for the 2009 NCAA West Regionals hosted by the University of Oregon at Springfield Country Club. The men’s race begins at 9:45 a.m., with the women going off at 10:45 a.m.

RIVERSIDE - Father knows best, indeed. Emmanuel Ngula can run. His raw talent and his Kenyan heritage all but demand it. After all, aren't all Kenyans runners the moment they leave the womb? But Daniel Kithoka, his dad, had to convince Emmanuel that running was his ticket to a brighter future. The family had moved from Kenya to the United States in 2001, when Emmanuel was 9, and he grew up an Americanized teenager who decided that running for its own sake was tedious and not nearly as enjoyable as basketball.

Van Nuys, CA - Both UC Riverside cross country teams were back in action on Friday evening at the Cal State Northridge Invitational at the Wildlife/Cricket/Japanese Garden area of Balboa Park Sepulveda Basin. The UCR mens team, led by a first place finish by sophomore Chad Hall, took home team medalist honors while the women finished seventh.
