Arroyo Grande, CA - Sophomore Denyse Neville (pictured) carded an even-par 72 on Sunday to lead the UC Riverside women's golf team to an eighth-place standing after one round of play Sunday in the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
Neville is tied for third place with two other golfers, one stroke behind co-leaders Breanna Patz of Xavier (Ohio) and Samantha Saffold of Sacramento State entering Monday¹s final round. Patz and Saffold both recorded 71s on the 6,046-yard, par-72 course.
Xavier leads the team standings with a four-person nine-over-par 297 total, one stroke ahead of Cal State Northridge. Northern Arizona is third at 300, followed by Sacramento State (306) and Cal Poly (308). There are 16 teams and nine individuals in the two-day tournament.
UCR's other scoring golfers were Amelia Ek with a 76, tied for 16th place; Natalie Guidry with a 82, tied for 52nd place; and Alexandra Erdman and Tiffany Koyano, both with 83s and tied for 57th place.
Competing as an individual, Linda Ong carded an 88 and is tied for 77th place.
Monday¹s final round begins at 8 a.m.
