Women's Tennis Earns First Win Of 2010 Season, 4-3 Over Utah State

Las Vegas, NV - The UC Riverside women's tennis team (1-3) earned its first win of the 2010 season on Saturday morning with a 4-3 victory over Utah State at the Ferttita Tennis Complex on the campus on UNLV.
The Highlanders opened the match by winning the doubles point with victories at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots. Donna McCullough and Nadia Sakhakorn earned a hard-fought 9-7 victory at No. 2, while Taylor Raney and Natalie McKay won 8-6 at No. 3 to give UCR the first point.
In singles play, Raney defeated Kristina Voytsekovich 7-4, 6-0 at No. 3, followed by a 7-5, 6-3 win by Natalie McKay at No. 5. Roxanne Plata's (pictured) three-set 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 6 over Britney Watts proved to be the clinching point for the Highlanders.
UCR returns to the courts on Friday, Feb. 19 for a Big West Conference match against Long Beach State at the SRC Tennis Courts in Riverside, CA at 1:00 pm.
