Men's Tennis Competes On Day One At Pre-Regional

Irvine, CA - The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team began its 2012-13 season Friday with doubles and singles matches at the Pre-Regional Tournament.
In doubles action, four different duos of Highlanders competed, with Jimmy Roberts and Luis Gastao teaming up for a heart-breaking 9-8 (4) loss to UC Irvine's Cheung/Shibahara.
In singles play, Julian Ruffin won his first and second round matches, defeating UCI's Cheung 6-3, 6-4, and Wofford's Galloway 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
In the second round, Roberts defeated Superstein from Wofford 7-6 (4), 6-3, and Marcus Vizvarra defeated Smith from Wofford 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Matches continue Saturday morning.
