Larsen Tabbed As Assistant Coach For USA Men's Olympic Volleyball Team

Riverside, CA—UC Riverside Head Volleyball Coach Ron Larsen has been chosen as an assistant coach for the USA Men's Olympic Volleyball team this spring and summer through the 2012 London Olympics. Larsen was the top assistant coach with the USA Men's Volleyball Team when they won the gold medal during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The Men's Team will host Argentina in two international exhibition matches as both teams prepare for London qualifying tournaments.
The first match is scheduled for Friday, April 27 at 7:30 pm at the JSerra Pavilion at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano. The teams will then play on Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 pm at the same location.

The USA Men's Olympic Volleyball team will then host their Olympic qualification event from May 7-12 at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, CA. Participating teams are USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad & Tobaga.
The USA Men's Team will begin the qualifer on Monday, May 7 against Trinidad & Tobago. On Tuesday they face Costa Rica, and compete against Mexico on Wednesday. All games are scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm at the Pyramid.
The quarterfinals begin on Thursday, May 10 with the semifinals scheduled for Friday, May 11, and the final slated for Saturday, May 12.
