Jeff Carsley set five single-season and two career marks during his two seasons with the UC Riverside baseball program while leading the Highlanders to the 1977 National Championship. That season he established team records for runs (59), hits (102), total bases (143), batting average (.416), and RBI (58). His career runs total and batting average (.394) were also highwater marks for UC Riverside at the time of his graduation. The Toronto Blue Jays drafted Carsley, and he played in the Florida State league before playing professionally for Torino, Italy, where he led the league in RBIs in 1979.
