John Hendy was an All-American swimmer for the Highlanders in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly during the 1971 season. He also lettered four years in water polo, and was team captain as a senior. He went on to graduate from the University of Pacific Dental School, and in 2008, Hendy graduated from the University of Vienna, Austria with the advanced degree of Masters of Science in Laser Dentistry.
