Melissa Sanchez was a four-time All-Big West selection for Highlander Softball in the early years of UCR's Division I tenure, earning three First Team honors and one Second Team honor under head coaches Mike Smith, Rachel Miller-Reif and Connie Miner.
Sanchez ranks in the Big West's single-season top 10 in batting and walks while earning two Big West Player of the Week honors in her time in Riverside.
She was also named an Easton Third Team All-American in 2004 to the NFCA All-West Region team in 2006.
Sanchez, originally a pitcher before moving to third base, ranks in the top 10 in program history in games played, hits, home runs, doubles, RBI, batting, slugging and on-base percentage.
