A three-sport athlete for the Highlanders in football, basketball and baseball, Pete Kettela '61 quarterbacked UC Riverside to an undefeated season in 1960 and was named to the Small College All-America Team. He would later serve as the Highlanders' head football coach from 1966-69. His coaching career also took him to Stanford as the program's offensive coordinator, and to the National Football League's Green Bay Packers as an assistant coach. In 1983 he became the head coach of the Canadian Football League's Edmonton Eskimos, and he would later serve as both an assistant coach and director of player personnel with the Arena Football League's Arizona Rattlers.
