Steve Clute was a two-sport athlete for the Highlanders earning varsity letters in baseball and football, where he starred as a defensive back for the Highlanders. The social sciences major went on to serve in the California State Assembly, and in 1989, the University honored Clute with its first-ever Public Service Award.
