Ty Dabney earned All-America honors for the Highlanders Baseball Team in 1984 and 1985. His 1985 campaign produced one of the best single-season batting lines in UCR history of the program as he batted .427 while knocking in what was then a school-record 67 RBIs. The San Francisco Giants selected Dabney in the Major League Baseball Draft, and he was named California League Player of the Year in 1986. He retired from professional baseball following the 1989 season.
