The Highlander Athletics Association announced today that Barnhart, Inc. has agreed to serve as the presenting sponsor of UC Riverside's Gary McCord Golf Classic.

The Gary McCord Golf Classic presented by Barnhart, Inc. will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Victoria Club in Riverside.

The 22nd edition of the Gary McCord Golf Classic, which has raised over $700,000 to support student-athlete scholarships, is named after two-time All-American golfer and UCR Athletics Hall of Famer Gary McCord. McCord an economics alumnus actively participates as the host every year. He won the NCAA Division II individual championship in 1970 and turned professional in 1971.

McCord is best known as a color analyst on CBS Sports' golf telecasts, however, he also writes for Golf Digest Magazine. Author of three books: Golf for Dummies, Golf For Dummies II and Just A Range Ball In A Box Of Titleists, he also hosted the "Golf for Dummies" instructional DVD and served as technical consultant for and appeared in the Kevin Costner movie "Tin Cup."
