Riverside, CA - For the third time in as many years, and for the sixth time since the Highlanders joined the Big West Conference in 2001, UC Riverside's Ag/Ops Course played host to the Big West Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning.
The women's 6k race featured all nine Big West squads, with the UC Riverside women's cross country team finishing in fourth place.
Damajeria DuBose paced the Highlanders with a 15th place individual finish as the team tallied 117 points.
UC Santa Barbara repeated as conference champions as they finished just two points ahead of Cal Poly, 35 to 37.
Long Beach State came in third with 72 points followed by UC Riverside, UC Davis (144), UC Irvine (149), Cal State Fullerton (154), Cal State Northridge (207), and Pacific (290).
DuBose ran in a personal-best 6k time of 21:15.7. She was followed by Katy Daly and Margaret Sitker, who placed 20th and 21st respectively in 21:25.4 and 21:27.4.
Brittany Reimer came in fourth for the Highlanders in a career-best 21:46.0 time to finish 27th, while Jenessia Navarro placed 35th in 21:58.1.
Jzsanette Lindstrom (22:16.6) and Camila Alvarez (22:27.6) rounded out UCR's squad with 44th and 49th place finishes.
UCSB's Amanda Moreno won the event in a course and meet-record time of 19:57.0, more than 20 seconds ahead of the next competitor.
On the men's side, the UCR men's cross country team finished second out of eight teams, with Chad Hall earning All-Conference honors with his second place individual finish.
The Highlanders now head to the NCAA West Regionals in Eugene, OR on Saturday, Nov. 13.
