Beamont, CA - The UC Riverside men's golf team lowered its team scores in each successive round at the Braveheart Classic on Monday-Tuesday at Oak Creek Golf Club, finishing in tenth place out of 15 teams on the par-72, 7,003 yard course.
The Highlanders fired rounds of 312-300-297 for a 909 total, just one stroke behind ninth place and five back of eighth.
Arizona won the team title with a six-under-par 858 (293-284-281), while Long Beach State finished second (878), and Cal State Northridge and Santa Clara tied for third with identical 885s.
Scott Clayton paced UCR with a 15th place finish at five-over-par (76-72-73=221). Robbie Mamo tied for 32nd with a 227 (80-75-72), Kevin Fitzgerald tied for 39th (78-77-74=229), Andrew Patipaksiri finished tied for 47th (78-76-78=232), and Tom Lo placed T83 (83-84-80=247 ).
Playing as individuals, Roy Kim placed T52, Ray Reyes finished 82nd, Matt Fitzgerald tied for 83rd, and Daniel Brainard placed T88.
Arizona's Tarquin Macmanus earned individual medalist honors with a six-under-par 210 (72-72-66).
The Highlanders return to the links at the Duck Invitational in Junction City, OR on March 22-23.
