Scottsdale, AZ - After one complete round of play at the Cowboy Classic at Talking Stick Golf Club, the UC Riverside men's golf team is tied for 12th place out of 24 teams with a five-over-par 285 team score.The second round of play was suspended due to darkness on Monday evening and will continue on Tuesday morning.
Senior Scott Clayton fired a four-under-par 66 in the first round of competition to tie for second place. He is just one shot back of the leader, Taylor Coffman from Nevada, who shot a 65.
UCR's 285 team score is one stroke back of tying for eighth place and just 10 shots behind the current team leader, UC Santa Barbara (275).
Rounding out the Highlanders scores are Kevin Fitzgerald with a 72, Andrew Patipaksiri with a 73, and identical 74s from Daniel Brainard and Tom Lo.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the conclusion of round two and a complete 18-hole third round.
