San Diego, CA - Members of the UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team got the USTA/ITA Regional Championship underway Thursday with matches in singles and doubles competition.

In the singles round of 128, Jamie Raney defeated USD's Cara Brown, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3. In the next round, Raney was defeated 6-2, 6-3 by UCLA's Pamela Montez.

Natalie McKay also competed in the round of 128, but dropped a 7-6, 6-0 decision to UC Irvine's Sarah Gong.

The Highlanders duo teamed up in doubles action, falling 8-3 to San Diego State's Casanova and Hoorn.

The regional championship continues on Friday with additional singles and doubles competition.
