
Alcott Elementary School Gets Educated With The Highlanders

Riverside—Head Women's Basketball Coach John Margarities, men's basketball player Chris Harriel, women's volleyball player Bianca Endersby and baseball player Donovan Gonzales took UC Riverside's "Get Educated With The Highlanders" program to Alcott Elementary School on Wednesday, September 26 speaking to nearly 1,000 K-6 students. Alcott is emphasizing former UCLA Head Men's Basketball Coach John Wooden's Pyramid of Success by rewarding students who excel in the designated building blocks. Coach Margaritis added a personal touch to the proceedings recounting the time he was able to spend with the Bruins legend.
This month, awards were given to students in the areas of hard work and enthusiasm. The Highlanders student-athletes extolled the virtues of both in their presentations explaining that both are necessary for them to compete successfully in intercollegiate athletics as well as in the classroom and in life.
