Women's Cross Country Finishes Sixth At Big West Conference Championship

San Luis Obispo, CA - The UC Riverside Women's Cross Country Team finished sixth on Saturday morning at the Big West Cross Country Championships, with senior Jzsanette Lindstrom leading the way with an 18th place overall finish. View the full results.
Cal Poly claimed the team title with 37 points, placing eight runners in the top-15 including the winner, sophomore Laura Hollander with a time of 20:43.9. UC Davis finished second with 44 points followed by UC Santa Barbara with 62.
Long Beach State totaled 125 points for fourth place with Cal State Fullerton in fifth with 147 points, and the Highlanders in sixth at 158 points.
UC Irvine placed seventh with 180 points with Cal State Northridge finishing eighth and Hawai'i in ninth.
Lindstrom finished the 6k course in 23:01.6 to place 18th. She was followed by Brooke McCandless in 25th with a time of 23:38.8, with Raquel Hefflin placing 33rd overall in 24:02.2.
Brianna Simmons was UCR's fourth-best finisher running the course in 24:20.8 to place 41st. Maryann Holliday came in at 25:01.3 to finish 54th with Alisha Brown in 59th at 25:24.5, and Valerie Mares in 63rd in 26:12.1.
UC Riverside now prepares for the NCAA West Regional Championship in Sacramento, CA on November 15.
