UC Davis Earns 4-0 Victory Over Women's Tennis In Big West Championship First Round

Indian Wells, CA—The #10 seeded UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team lost to #7 seeded UC Davis Thursday afternoon in the Big West Championship First Round at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
After an 8-0 win for the Aggies at number two doubles, the Highlanders were competitive in matches one and three and almost took the doubles point. Kat Saltarelli and Kate Bergeson dropped a 9-7 decision at #3, and the match at the top spot was at 8-7 before being stopped once UCD won the point.
In singles, Natalie McKay lost a 6-0, 6-2 contest to Melissa Kobayakawa at number four, giving UCD a 2-0 lead in the match. Courtney Pattugalan then dropped a 6-3, 6-3 match at number five to Nicole Koehly, and Kate Bergeson fell 6-4, 6-3 at #6 to Tiffany Pham as UC Davis claimed the 4-0 victory.
At the top two matches for the Highlanders, Jamie Raney and Taylor Raney both won their first sets and were in the middle of the second set when the match was decided.
UC Riverside concludes the season with a 1-16 overall record, while the Aggies move on to play Long Beach State in the second round Friday morning.
