Riverside, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team opened Big West play Thursday evening hosting UC Davis in an inter-divisional match-up, but it was the Aggies who provided all of the offense in a 2-0 UCD victory.

Roy Boateng put the Aggies on top with 7:08 remaining in the first as Greg Salazar chipped the ball to Lucas Mohageg in the middle of the UCR box. Mohageg then headed it to Boateng who headed it past the Highlanders defense to the near post.

Less than four minutes gone in the second half, UC Davis struck again. Justin Wright back-heeled the ball to Kyle Higgins  streaking towards the goal, and Higgins finished to the right side of the net.

UC Riverside pushed forward, but was unable to crack the Aggies defense. UC Davis goalkeeper Kris Schultz recorded five saves in earning the shutout.

The Highlanders remain at home this weekend as they host Sacramento State on Saturday, October 3 beginning at 7:30 pm PT.
