Men's Soccer Opens Big West Tournament At Sac State Following 1-0 Overtime Loss At CSUN

Northridge, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team begins Big West Conference Tournament play on Saturday November 5 at 3 pm PT with a first round match against Sacramento State, as the Highlanders finished in third place in the South Division following a 1-0 decision at CSUN Saturday night.

UCR outshot the Matadors 7-1 in the first half and 11-6 overall, but were unable to find the back of the net. CSUN finally broke the scoreless tie with just 1:04 gone in the first overtime when Patrick Hickman's long throw-in found Gabe Robinson in the box. Robinson flicked the ball to Samual Dadzie, and Dadzie headed home his first goal of the season past the outstretched arms of UCR goalkeeper Vincent Morales (Bellflower, CA).

The win secured the number one seed in the South Division for the Matadors. Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine were tied 1-1 heading into overtime at press time, but the outcome of that match will not impact the conference standings, giving the Titans the two seed.
