In Memorium: Mark Morneweg
10/3/2016 9:52:00 AM | UC Riverside Athletics Association
It is with great sadness that we inform the UC Riverside community of the passing of Mark Morneweg. If you visited campus to watch a basketball game at any time in the last few decades, you no doubt saw Mark sitting courtside and cheering on the Highlanders. Through the years, Mark attended more than 300 basketball games at UCR.
Mark graduated in 1975 with a degree in English. Author Joan Didion spoke at his commencement address influencing Mark's life as a writer. Mark was the author of The Girl on the 40-Yard Line, The Electric Mandolin, and Penthe & Alphonse. He continued to write until the time of his death.
His enthusiasm and passion for the Highlanders will be missed at the SRC.
