
Highlanders Conclude Cullom Invitational in 10th

VALENCIA, Calif. – The third and final round of UC Riverside's first event of 2021-22 saw the Highlanders drop one spot to 10th overall at the Bill Cullum Invitational.

For the Highlanders (312-306-315 – 933), Tuesday proved to be their toughest round as a team at The Oaks Club at Valencia, a par-72, 7089-yard course. Within the UCR lineup, junior transfer Josh Hu had the best showing after 54 holes, finishing in a tie for 21st (76-75-74 – 225), with his 2-over 74 Tuesday his best round of golf for UCR. He was the only player for UC Riverside to play bogey-free golf over the final 18 holes of the event.

Sophomore Eric Cho ended in a tie for 47th (79-72-82 – 233), his even-par Round 2 the best round by any Highlander over three rounds. Senior Sam He found himself tied for 59th after 54 holes (76-81-81 –238), senior Edward Yi ended tied for 61st (81-79-79 – 239) and sophomore Mark Gao settled for 75th (86-80-81 –247).

The Matadors came in first as a team, finishing at 9-over par, 285-294-297 – 876. Brian Arnold  of UC Santa Barbara was the individual winner. See full final results here.

The Highlander's best finish in their history at the Cullom Invitational came in 2010, when they won the team title after carding a 298-286-287—871 (+5).
