Four Highlanders Enter Record Book on Day Two at IU Relays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – UC Riverside completed day two at the IU relays on Saturday morning with what head coach Nate Browne called "a near perfect start to their indoor season."

The Highlanders knocked down several top-10 marks from four different student-athletes in Bloomington.

"It's tough coming across time zones and racing In a new environment, but these kids handled it well," Browne said. "Coach Newsom had them ready physically and mentally, and they stepped right in and produced. I'm looking forward to them getting back after it next week in Spokane."

Two performances on the men's on Saturday side cracked the program top 10, with Joshua Mendoza running a 15:31.04 5k (7th) and Aiden Davis' mile clocking in at 4:14.00 (7th).

Linda Perez set the freshman record in the women's mile with a 5:07.80, while also running a 9:41.51 3k good for sixth in program history

All four times are lifetime bests.

UCR continues the indoor season next weekend when the Highlanders travel to Spokane, Washington for the WSU Invitational hosted by Washington State.
