UC Riverside Completes Day One in Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. – UC Riverside men's golf completed the first round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Thursday with three Highlanders at or below par at the Stockton Country Club.
UCR was at 10-under through 12 holes on the first day of its final fall tournament and ended shooting 283, three strokes shy of its lowest round in program history at the event.
Eric Cho shot a 2-under 69 on Thursday, starting his day off with birdie number one of five on the 10th hole. Cho parred the next three holes before carding an eagle on 14 and finished his afternoon with three consecutive birdies.Â
Josh Hu and Mark Gao are each tied for 41st and second in the UCR lineup after carding even 71s in round one. The duo combined for nine birdies, both going 1-under on 2 and 11.Â
UC Riverside carded 20 birdies on the day, tied for fourth in the field with Cho and Gao accounting for 10 of them. Cho led the field with a 4.00 scoring on par 5 along with his eagle on 14, one of six in the entire field on Thursday.Â
The Highlanders will resume play on Friday morning, starting on the back nine at approximately 9:24 a.m. with Cortez Herrera first up. Live results are available on Golfstat.Â
