UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Collette Lowengrub continued her historic 2022 cross country season on Friday morning at the Chambers Bay Golf Course, placing 30th at NCAA West Regionals.Â
The sophomore's time of 19:58.0 is the first sub-20 time in program history and is unofficially a school record. UCR finished 28th out of 35 on the women's side and 17th out of 31 on the men's side.Â
Lowengrub dropped to 35th midway through the race, but gradually climbed back into the pack for a top-30 finish, the program's best on the women's side since Faith Makau's 28th-place finish in 2016. Friday also marked the second straight top-60 individual finish after Linda Perez placed 51st last year in Sacramento.Â
Ashraf Abdelmagid and Tyler Kaan finished three places apart in 72nd and 75th, respectively. Kaan finished eighth out of 45 freshmen in the overall field with a time of 30:02.7.Â
