EVANSTON, Ill. - UC Riverside continued the non-conference road trip on Friday with a 2-0 loss to Northwestern at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• UCR won a pair of quick corners in the opening eight minutes on off-target shots from Wes Hastings and Brendan Clark. 
• Both sides combined for nine fouls in the opening 20 minutes, but neither could muster a shot on net as Hastings' and Clarks' attempts that resulted in corners were the closest either side came to opening the scoring. Clark tallied the match's first shot on goal in the 31st minute before Northwestern tallied their first overall in the 36th. 
• The Highlanders showed offensive urgency in the opening 45 minutes, winning six corners despite being called offside four times. 
• Northwestern opened the scoring in the 55th minute, but UCR still had its eyes set on goal with seven shots in the latter half. UC Riverside won back-to-back free kicks in the 58th and 59th minutes but could not find the back of the net. 
• The Wildcats locked up all three points with a second goal in the 87th minute. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

• UCR won a season-high eight corner kicks and tied a season high with 11 shots in Friday night's tussle. 
• Clark logged two of UC Riverside's five shots on goal while leading the Highlanders with three attempts on the night.
