Linda Perez Grabs Big West Weekly Honors

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Linda Perez has been named the Big West Cross Country Female Athlete of the Week following her win at the Big West Preview this past Friday.

Perez broke the tape in 17:35.5, followed closely behind by Collette Lowengrub in second. The dynamic duo led UC Riverside to a second-place overall finish on the women's side.

The Big West Preview marked Perez's fourth top-five finish in eight cross country races as a Highlander, as well as her second straight top-three in a season opener after last year's third-place finish at the Nevada Twilight. Perez also claimed fourth at the 2021 Big West Championships in Davis.

UCR returns to the course on Saturday, September 16th as the Highlanders host the annual UCR Invitational at the Ag Ops Course. Races will start with the women's 6k at 7:15 a.m. Tickets are on sale now at highlanderstickets.universitytickets.com.
