
UC Riverside Finishes Fourth at Gaucho Invitational with Strong Final Round

GOLETA, Calif. — The UC Riverside Highlanders delivered their best performance of the week in the final round of the Gaucho Invitational at Sandpiper Golf Club, shooting a 6-under 282 on Tuesday to finish in fourth place out of 11 teams. The Highlanders closed the tournament at 866 (+2), jumping three spots on the leader board to cap off the event on a high note.

- Hartej Grewal tied for 12th at even par (216) after rounds of 71 (-1), 73 (+1), and 72 (E). Grewal birdied seven holes across the tournament and was steady in Tuesday's final round with 11 pars and birdies on holes 4, 5, and 15.
- Stephen Luo tied for 16th at +1 overall after rounds of 71 (-1), 74 (+2), and 72 (E). Luo made a late charge with five birdies in the final round to stay under par for the tournament.
- Liam Hartling tied for 21st at +3, capping off the week with a 3-under 69 that included five birdies, including back-to-back red numbers on holes 4 and 5 and an eagle on hole 13.
- Chanhee Ryu also tied for 21st at +3 with a 2-under 70 on Tuesday.Â
- Von Wasson rounded out the scoring with a 71 (-1) in the final round to join Hartling and Ryu at +3 and tied for 21st.Â
- UC Riverside led the tournament in Par-5 scoring at -33, best among the 14-team field.
- All five Highlanders finished inside the top 25 individually.
- The team's final-round 282 was tied for the lowest score of the day.
- UC Riverside climbed from seventh to fourth on the final day.
- The Highlanders will now shift their focus to the Big West Championship, set for April 27–29.
