Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

UCR Falls at Michigan, 2-0

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Highlanders wrapped up their two-game road trip in Michigan with a match against the Wolverines. UCR looked to get into the win column after dropping a tough 2-0 loss on Thursday at Michigan State. Michigan entered the game after a 1-1 draw against Notre Dame.

The game's first chance came from Michigan early on as a defensive miscue by UCR left the net wide open, but the Wolverines could not capitalize. Michigan got the first shot on net when Shuma Sasaki put it on target, but Andrew Hermosillo made a wonderful save keeping Michigan off the board.

Edward Castro got the first shot on goal in the 24', but Michigan's Isaiah Goldson made a great save of his own. It was the Highlanders' second shot, but first on target. It would be their only recorded shot on goal of the match.

The Highlanders threatened again in the 35' and earned a corner, but Michigan's defense held firm.

In the 44' Kevin Meza got a yellow card, and Michigan was awarded a penalty kick. Michigan's Quin Rogers scored giving the Wolverines a 1-0 lead.

Michigan scored early in the second, as Rogers netted his second of the match putting the Wolverines up 2-0.

The Highlanders had one of their best opportunities in the second half as Wes Hastings just missed over the crossbar in the 73'.

Michigan had a couple of chances late but came up empty. The Highlanders fell 2-0 for the second straight game.

Next up for UC Riverside is its home opener against Air Force on September 1 at 7:15 pm. That game will be at the UCR Soccer Stadium. Click here for tickets.
