RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside track & field hosted another successful Chris Rinne Invitational at the UC Riverside Track Stadium with numerous event wins and a plethora of brand new best marks.
Addison Hackett (49.64m/162-10) and Gabriella Colon-Gipson (48.93m/160-06) went 1-2 in the hammer throw on Friday's day one of the Highlanders' second and final home meet. Hackett recorded her new season best on her second attempt. Yuchua Yang posted a 52.87m/173-05.00 on the men's side.
Chelsea Aninyei kicked off day two with a win in the women's long jump. Aninyei made it back-to-back event wins at the Chris Rinne with Saturday's mark of 5.91m/19-04.75.
The Bellflower native improved her No. 3 all-time mark in the triple jump (12.98m/42-07.00) while Arthur Celestine Jr.'s 53.07 in the 400mH entered the record book at tenth all-time. Zoé Lamur (62.74) knocked microseconds off her 400mH time for a top-10 mark as well.
Colon-Gipson (13.58m/44-06.75) claimed the win in the shot put while Camryn Alo took second with a 12.97m/42-06.75.
JJ Juarez (1:55.67) dropped his outdoor 800m time and won while Raisa Guerrero (2:22.01) did so on the women's side and finished second. Taylor Oden (14.72) lowered her 100mH time to finish third and set a new season best.
UCR went 1-2 in both the men's and women's 400m. Elena Mack (57.06), Staci Cheatham (58.30), and event winner Diyana Hackley (54.93) lowered their times while Mallik Bolton (48.40) won on the men's side.
D'Lainey Nakamoto ran her first 200m of the outdoor season and collected the win, clocking a 24.56. Michael Petrick matched his season best in the 100m while Maxwell Jefferson shaved .02 seconds off his time.
Isatu N'Diaye (4:38.32), Marissa Hehir (4:40.18), Sophie Moser-Smith (4:51.85), and Metzli Velazquez (5:05.23) all lowered their 1500m times in the wet conditions before Baptiste Garderes took the win and seconds off his 1500m time shortly after.
UC Riverside returns to action on Friday, May 1, for day one of the two-day Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine.
