Alfred, Hussain Lead Highlanders at 45th Annual UCR Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Nicole Alfred and Eshaan Hussain led UC Riverside cross country Saturday morning as the Highlanders competed on their home course at the 45th Annual UCR Invitational at the Ag/Ops Cross Country Course.
WOMEN'S XC
Alfred paced the Highlander women in the 6K, placing 23rd overall out of 269 runners with a time of 20:47.0. Alfred earned 22 points toward UCR's team score.
Makayla Anderson followed with a 41st-place finish, crossing in 21:06.3, while Anna Field finished 63rd in 21:21.4.
Freshman Nadia Mejia was the fourth Highlander across the line, placing 110th with a time of 21:43.2. Lexi Corvese rounded out UCR's five scoring runners in 122nd at 21:47.5 as the Highlanders finished 11th with 339 team points.
Marissa Hehir and Sonya Nichols crossed just two-tenths of a second apart, finishing in 21:58.2 and 21:58.4, respectively. Raisa Guerrero followed in 22:04.4, with Meztli Velazquez recording a time of 22:08.6.
Zaida Velazquez completed the Highlanders' lineup with a time of 22:18.3.
MEN'S XC
Hussain led the Highlander men in the 8K, placing 31st overall out of 219 runners, with a time of 24:18.1. Hussain earned 27 points toward UCR's team score.
Eamon Wright was the second Highlander across the finish line, placing 49th in 24:34.0, while Finn Babbitt followed in 62nd with a time of 24:47.9.
Jordan Herrera finished 88th in 24:57.9 before freshman Brady Bertsch rounded out UCR's five scoring runners in 111th with a time of 25:14.2. The Highlanders placed 10th with 313 team points.
Baptiste Garderes crossed just behind Bertsch in 25:14.8, while Hunter Hannah finished in 25:27.9.
Tyler Kaan and Bradley Quezada finished back-to-back, recording times of 25:34.0 and 25:34.2, respectively.
Joshua West completed the Highlanders' lineup with a time of 26:38.0.
