Andrew Basler

Andrew Basler was promoted to associate head coach for Women's Track & Field at UC Riverside in January of 2013.

He joined originally joined the Highlanders as an assistant track coach in August of 2007 after serving as an assistant woman's track coach at Central Michigan University. Basler coaches the jumpers, hurdlers, land heptathletes for UC Riverside.

Basler attended the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, where he won the 2002 NCAA Division III National Championship in the Indoor Long Jump. He was a team captain of the Eagles' 2001 and 2002 NCAA Division III Indoor/Outdoor Track Championship teams and was a five-time Academic All-American, including a member of the 2002 Verizon Academic All-America Men's Track/Cross Country First Team. He graduated in 2002 with a major in art and a minor in photography.

Following his graduation, he went on to Central Michigan, earning a master of arts in sports administration while serving as the assistant women's track coach. He was responsible for the training programs for sprinters, 400m runners, hurdlers, jumpers and multi-event athletes and a primary recruiter.

His student-athletes posted many notable achievements, including seven NCAA Division I outdoor regional qualifiers and three National Championship participants. He also had three USA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship qualifiers and two 2008 US Olympic Trial Qualifiers. Six of his student-athletes set school outdoor records and seven achieved school indoor marks.

Basler has a USA Track and Field Level I Coaching Certification. He enjoys working out, reading, watching movies, writing, and playing nearly all sports. He resides in Riverside.
