Brent Perkins joined the UC Riverside staff as assistant men’s and women’s golf coach in August 2012, and was promoted to Head Women's Golf Coach in August 2013.
During Perkins first year with the Highlanders, he helped the men's team to three top-3 finishes while the women's program finishd in the top-5 in all but two events. Additionally, the women's squad placed fourth at the Big West Conference Championship—their highest finish since the 2007 season.
Perkins began his career in 1993 working at Black Oak Golf Course in Auburn, CA, eventually ascending to Head Golf Professional in 1998.
He competed as a professional golfer from 2002-04 in both PGA and Nationwide Tour events, as well as multiple mini-tours, including full-time status on the Golden State Tour.
In 2004, Perkins was named Head Golf Professional at Bogart Golf in Boulder, CO, working as the director of instruction as well as manager of the indoor golf facility. He continued in this position until 2006 before joining Intrawest Retail Group as manager.
Perkins relocated to Southern California in 2008 and was the assistant general manger of Mission Trails Golf Course in San Diego, before becoming general manager for Lomas Santa Fe Golf Course in Solano Beach until 2011.
He now serves as the general manager of Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside.
Perkins was a three-year captain of the men’s golf team at Colfax High School, winning the league championship on two occasions. He was also a CIF Tournament runner up, a three-time all-league member, and league MVP in 1995.
