Before transitioning into the role of Executive Analyst and Coordinator to the Athletics Director in September of 2024, Chelsea Pfohl joined UC Riverside Athletics’ communications team in January 2020 as the Assistant Director of Sports Communications, Digital and Emerging Media. In this role, she managed communications, statistics, table staff, and press boxes for UCR’s 17-sport NCAA varsity athletics program.
Prior to working at UC Riverside, she served as the Sports Information Director at Hope International University, where she was the sole communications director for their 19-sport NAIA varsity athletics program.
Before her work in collegiate athletics, she directed production, sales, and digital media at MVS Studios Inc., a luxury photography business that documented parties and events for clients at the White House, HBO, the Oscars, Instagram, Apple, and many more.
Chelsea earned her master’s degree from New York University’s Interactive Telecommunications Program in 2017, where she also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in the exhibition department at the American Museum of Natural History. As an undergraduate at NYU, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, was a three-time NCAA All-American swimmer, and set multiple school, pool, and conference records.
Outside of work, Chelsea is passionate about open water swimming, and still competes. She also enjoys spending time with her niece and nephew, Chloe and Gavin, and her border collie, Strider.
