Malaki Roy joined UC Riverside in 2024 as the Director of Development for Intercollegiate Athletics, where he leads efforts to advance the department’s philanthropic growth and long-term sustainability. In this role, he is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting annual, major, and principal gifts that support student-athlete success, facility enhancements, and programmatic excellence. He manages a dynamic portfolio of prospective donors and works collaboratively with campus leadership, coaches, and Development and Alumni Engagement to build meaningful relationships and secure transformational support for Highlander Athletics.
Prior to joining UC Riverside, Roy built a diverse background in athletics and nonprofit development, including leadership roles in ticketing and external operations at California Baptist University and advancement work with the American Cancer Society. He also gained valuable experience in business development through his work with The Aspire Group at institutions such as the University of Maryland and Liberty University, as well as the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy.
A native of Montgomery County, Maryland, Roy is a former student-athlete who played football at Liberty University, where he developed a deep appreciation for the student-athlete experience that continues to shape his professional mission. Across each of his roles, he has demonstrated a strong ability to build relationships, communicate a compelling vision, and drive revenue growth in competitive environments.
Malaki and his wife, Cara, have a son and a daughter, Camden and Keelyn.
