Thomas Nichols joined UC Riverside as Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning in October of 2024, overseeing all aspects of strength and conditioning for baseball, softball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, and men's and women’s tennis. Prior to UC Riverside, Nichols spent time at Cal State Fullerton (2023-24) as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach, where he designed and implemented sports performance programs for cross-country, track & field throwers, and women’s golf. Additionally, he assisted with baseball.
He spent time as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Mississippi State University (2022-23), working directly with baseball.
Nichols spent time as an intern at San Diego State University from 2018-2022, working with all 16 Olympic sports. He was elevated to a Professional Intern role in 2021 where he oversaw all aspects of strength and conditioning for women’s throwers for track & field.
Throughout his career, Nichols has had over 30 baseball players be drafted or signed with Major League Baseball teams and has had three softball players play professional in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League.
Nichols graduated from San Diego State University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2020 with a Master’s degree in Kinesiology.
Nichols currently holds certifications with NSCA (CSCS) and USAW Level 1.
