Anheuser-Busch has teamed up with UC Riverside athletics and chosen four fall athletes as the November and December recipients of the "Budweiser Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month": men's soccer player David Lozano, women's soccer player Ashley Parks, and volleyball players Brittney Murrey and Dominique Cowling. Please visit the Budweiser Responsibility Matters web page to view past recipients.
Lozano earned 2009 Big West Second-Team All-Conference honors as a senior, his third all-conference nod of his career. He was named to the Second-Team as a sophomore and to the First-Team a year ago as a junior.
The Dana Point, CA native also broke the Highlanders career record for matches played this year and finished his four-year UCR career with 71 matches played, 61 starts and one assist from his defender slot.
Parks earned her first-ever Big West All-Conference accolade with a Second-Team honor as a senior this season, finishing second on the Highlanders in goals, assists and points. She also helped the UCR defense post its lowest goals against average (0.79) since the 2005 season and third lowest since the dawn of the Division I era.
Both Murrey and Cowling earned their first-ever Big West All-Conference awards as seniors this season, as each was selected to the Honorable Mention team.
Cowling led the Highlanders with 363 total kills and 3.74 kills per set, a personal best, while also finishing 5th in the conference in kills per set. She also ranks seventh in Highlanders history in total attacks.
Murrey tallied 863 assists on the season, finishing seventh in the Big West in assists per game. Her 3,502 career assists is second on the Highlanders career assists charts, while her 8.9 career assists per game ranks third all-time in school history.
Anheuser-Busch congratulates Lozano, Parks, Murrey, and Cowling for demonstrating that RESPONSIBILITY REALLY DOES MATTER!
