Allison Wilder Finishes 15th In Triple Jump At NCAA Indoor Championship
3/13/2010 9:57:34 PM | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field
Fayetteville, AR—UC Riverside junior Allison Wilder made the trip east to Arkansas Saturday afternoon representing the Highlanders at the 2010 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championship in the triple jump. Her best leap of the day was 12.57m (41' 3.0") good enough for 15th place, but short of the 13.13m she jumped to qualify and the distance she needed to earn her first-ever All-American accolades.
"Even though the final performance didn't produce the All-American honors that Allison was aiming for, she still brings home with her the experience of her first-ever national championship meet." said UC Riverside Assistant Track & Field Coach Andy Basler. "With a full indoor and outdoor season left for her next year, this will only make her that much better. We're all proud of how Allison represented our track and field program this season."
While Wilder was busy in Arkansas, the rest of the UC Riverside Track & Field Teams took part in the Northridge Invitational. Travis Smith's shot put of 16.67m (54' 8.25") broke the school record while Megan McFarland qualified for conference in the hammer with her throw of 51.33m (168' 5.0").
Ted Hooper won the B Section of the long jump with a leap of 6.76m while Nikki James qualified for the Big West Championship in the discus with a throw of 44.57m (146' 2.0").
The Highlanders also had a successful turn in the relays as the women’s 800m sprint medley team of Ashley Perkins, Christina Satterwhite, LaTaneisha Wilkes and Yozmine Modeste won the event with a time of 1:48.55.
The men’s 4x200m relay team of Peter Guenther, Hooper, Jerome Rideaux and Bryan Adams finished second with a time of 1:29.48, while Satterwhite, Modeste, Jazmine Lewis and Wilkes finished fourth in the women's 4x200m relay finishing in 1:47.77.
