San Luis Obispo, CA - The UC Riverside women's golf team fired a first-round 317 team score to tie for fourth place out of seven teams at the Big West Conference Championship at San Luis Obsipo Country Club with two rounds remaining.
Freshman Amelia Ek (pictured) led the Highlanders squad with a three-over par 75 to tie for third place out of 35 competitors, just one stroke behind second place and three back of the leader, UC Davis' Alice Kim (72).
No. 31 ranked UC Davis is the current team leader after one round of play, shooting a 10-over-par 298. No. 40 UC Irvine is second (306), Long Beach State is third (307), while UCR and Cal State Northridge are tied for fourth with identical 317s. Cal Poly (324) and Cal State Fullerton (328) round out the field.
Other first round scores for the Highlanders include a 78 from senior Alexandra Erdman to tie for 13th place, an 80 from freshman Tiffany Koyano to tie for 20th, and identical 84s from Natalie Guidry and Denyse Neville to tie for 28th.
The second round of the Big West Conference Championship is set for Monday, Apr. 19, with the final 18-hole round on Tuesday, Apr. 20. Tee times for UC Riverside begin at 9:40 AM on Monday.
