San Luis Obispo, CA—UC Riverside got goals from five different players as the Highlanders scored a season-high five goals in a 5-0 shutout victory over Cal Poly in a Big West Conference match Friday night at Mustang Stadium. Senior forward Randy Poggio made it 2-0 with his fourth goal of the season in the 34th minute. Four minutes later, freshman forward T.J. Bombard scored his first career goal, putting Riverside in a 3-0 lead at the end of first half play.
UCR's offense did not slow down in the second half. Junior midfielder Mark Moreira recieved a pass from Randy Poggio in an open field to record his first goal of the season in the 57th minute. Eight minutes later, sophomore Zack Seale scored Riverside's fifth goal of the night, and the first of his collegiate career, off a penalty kick.
