Andrew Patipaksiri Ties For Medalist Honors At U.S. Amateur Qualifier

Mission Viejo, CA - UC Riverside golfer Andrew Patipaksiri tied for medalist honors on Monday at the U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifying at Mission Viejo Country Club, earning himself a spot at the 110th U.S. Amateur Championship. This year's event will be held at Chambers Bay in Washington from Aug. 23-29, 2010. Complete Results
Patipaksiri fired rounds of 70-73 for a one-under-par total of 143, tying with Mark Dunes of Bermuda Hills for the top spot. The top three players advanced to the U.S. Amateur.
"This is a big step for Andrew," Head Golf Coach Paul Hjulberg stated. "We look forward to following his progress at the U.S. Amateur later this month."
Other UCR golfers in the qualifier included Kevin Fitzgerald (T16, 73-78=151) and 2010 graduate Scott Clayton (T32, 79-76=155).
