Keeney's 3-RBI Homer In Extras Lifts Softball Past Cal State Northridge 6-3

Northridge, CA - Brittany Keeney hit a three-RBI home run in the top of the 11th inning for the UC Riverside softball team on Sunday as the Highlanders (12-31, 5-13) defeated Cal State Northridge 6-3 in Big West action at the Matador Diamond.
Tied at two after regulation, both teams plated single runs in the 10th, but it was the Highlanders who emerged victorious with three runs in the 11th.
With one out in the 11th, Kayle White doubled to right field and advanced to third on Ariel Shore's single. After another out, Keeney delivered with a bomb to left field, lifting UCR to a 6-3 lead.
Highlanders pitcher Jordyn McDonald got out of a jam in the bottom of the 11th, and UC Riverside held on for the victory.
McDonald earned the win for UCR, pitching all 11 innings while allowing just three hits and two earned runs. Carly Wade suffered the loss for CSUN, going 4.2 innings and giving up eight hits and four runs.
UC Riverside got on board in the third inning on a White solo home run to left field. The Matadors (20-30, 8-10) tied the game at 1-1 in their bottom half inning thanks to Mikayla Thielges' single up the middle to score Jaci Carlsen.
CSUN took a 2-1 advantage in the next inning as Jessica Fridwall doubled and came around to score on Karla Chaparro's single.
The Highlanders evened the score in the fifth as Alexis Pickett led off the frame with a solo home run to right center field.
Neither team could bring home the game-winner in regulation as the teams ended the seventh inning knotted at two.
The score stayed 2-2 until the 10th, when UC Riverside's Brooke Hebenton bunted to the catcher, allowing her sister Kameryn Hebenton to score from third.
Cal State Northridge scored the equalizer in the bottom of the 10th on Thielges' solo shot over the right centerfield fence.
An inning later, Keeney came through for the Highlanders as UCR avoided the series sweep with its 6-3 win.
