Men's Golf Tied For Sixth After First Round At Big West Championship

La Quinta, CA - The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team fired a six-over-par 294 on Sunday morning in the first round of the Big West Conference Championship, tying for sixth out of nine teams at La Quinta Resort Mountain Course.
Pacific leads the field with a six-under-par 282 while UC Davis is in second with a 288.
Cal State Fullerton (290), UC Irvine (291), and UC Santa Barbara (292) are just strokes ahead of the Highlanders, who are tied with Long Beach State at 294.
Cal Poly and Cal State Northridge round out the field in a tie for eighth place with identical 301 totals.
Individually for UC Riverside, Jason Semthiti is in fifth place with a two-under-par 70, while BJ Doucett is a shot back after carding a one-under-par 71.
Ryan Smith and David Gazzolo are tied for 34th and 36th place respectively with rounds of 76 and 77, while Matt Fitzgerald shot 78 to place 40th.
Pacific's Alex Edfort leads the individual competition with a four-under-par 68.
The Big West Championship continues with a second 18-hole round on Monday morning with tee times beginning at 7:15 am.
