CSU Bakersfield Ends Men's Soccer's Undefeated Season With 2-0 Victory

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team brought its undefeated record into Friday's final non-conference match of the season, but it was CSU Bakersfield scoring twice in the first half en route to a 2-0 victory. (Box Score)

The Highlanders (7-1-0) were one of six undefeated teams entering the weekend, but the Road Runners would prove to be their toughest test of the season. With just 1:11 gone in the match, Gyasi Zardes found Kory Kindle in the UCR box where he beat Highlanders keeper Ashkan Khosravi to put CSUB on top.

The Runners (3-1-4) still led by a goal late in the first half, when Zardes and Jesus Sanchez combined on a give and go before finding Kindle open on the left side of the Highlanders box to make it 2-0 Bakersfield.

That score held up in the second period as neither team dented the back of the net after intermission.

Big West Conference play begins this weekend for the Highlanders as they host #3 UC Santa Barbara on Friday, September 28 at 8 pm PT and Cal Poly on Sunday, September 30 at 1 pm.
