Big West Honors Aaron Long, Hayden Leslie, Romario Lomeli With All-Conference Nods

Irvine, CA—The Big West released the 2013 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams this afternoon, naming UC Riverside's Hayden Leslie and Aaron Long to the Second Team, and Romario Lomelli to the All-Freshman Team.

Long, a midfielder, tied for the team lead in goals ths year with three, and added an assist to finish third on the team in points. His goal against Marist on September 1 was the game-winner, and scores against CSU Bakersfield and UNLV helped secure a tie and a victory for the Highlanders respectively. Long's lone assist of the season came in UCR's 3-2, come-from-behind victory over Cal State Fullerton allowing the Highlanders to clinch the number three seed in the Big West Conference Tournament. Last season, Long was named to the All-Big West First Team.
Leslie, a defender, helped the Highlanders break the school mark for shutouts in a season with seven. He also scored the game-winning goal for UC Riverside against UNLV on September 22. Leslie earned Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors during the first week of the season as the Highlanders shutout Iona and Marist to open the 2013 campaign.
Lomeli, a midfielder, tied for the team lead in scoring during the regular season with three goals and two assists for eight points. The first score of his career was the game-winner in the Highlanders' season opener against Iona. He also added goals against Marist and Bradley during the season. Lomeli recorded the game-winning assist vs. Marist, and a game-tying assist in UCR's 3-2, come-from-behind victory over Cal State Fullerton that helped the Highlanders secure the number three seed in the Big West Conference Tournament.
UC Riverside travels to UC Davis for its first-round, conference tournament match on Tuesday, November 12. Kick off is slated for 2 pm PT.
