Three More Track & Field Records Fall At Mountain T's Invitational

Flagstaff, AZ—Another week, another set of UC Riverside indoor track & field records falling by the wayside. Over the weekend at the Mountain T's Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona, Ted Hooper broke the men's long jump record, Ryan Swafford broke his one-week old triple jump mark and Briana Kennedy Feldhaus erased the women's 60m hurdles record from the books.
Hooper bested Nate Irvin's 12 year-year-old record in the long jump by one inch clearing 7.11m (23' 4.00"). Swafford broke the school mark in the triple jump last week at the UW Invitational with a leap of 15.48m (50' 9.5"). On Saturday he topped that by nearly a foot as he jumped 15.76m (51' 8.50").
On the women's side, Briana Kennedy Feldhaus ran the 60m hurdles in 8.66 to top Danielle Littleton's two year-old record by .13 seconds.
IN OTHER WOMEN'S ACTION
Breana Jemison won the open section of the women's shot put with a distance of 13.21m (43' 4.25"). Jazmine Lewis claimed fourth place with a throw of 11.71m (38' 5.00"), and Ahmbria Ross came in 10th at 8.38m (27' 6.00").
Deja Watkins came in third in the women's weight throw clearing 17.13m (56' 2.50"), while Jemison finished in a tie for ninth with a distance of 15.18m (49' 9.75m).
The Highlanders entered seven athletes in the women's 200m. Amber Wright was the top UCR finisher in seventh place with a time of 25.41. Noelle Abboud was right behind her in ninth at 25.70. Asha Blades (26.27) finished 15th, Jazmine Harper (26.30) came in 17th, Nechelle Reyes (26.98) was 23rd, Ambria Ross (27.90) came in 28th, and Mia Enciso-Rodriguez (28.38) finished 31st.
In the women's 60m, Wright (7.81) took 11th, while Abboud (7.85) finished 13th and Reyes (8.10) was 24th.
Enciso Rodriguez was the Highlanders lone participant in the women's 400m coming in 17th place with a time of 1:02.89.
Kayle Clarin just missed out on a top-10 finish coming in 11th in the women's 800m with a time of 2:31.56.
Jazmine Lewis took 12th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.19, and Ross finished 17th in 9.51.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Abboud, Blades, Harper and Wright came in third with a time of 3:51.00, just 2.45 off of Arizona State's winning time.
Tiffani Stone paced UCR's long jumpers with an eighth place finish and a distance of 5.08m (16' 8.00"), while Phoenisha Schuhmeier came in 10th with a top jump of 4.79m (15' 8.75").
Four Highlanders took part in the women's triple jump, and Jacquelyn Dubois cleared 37' 1.25"—good enough for a fourth place finish. Stone came in sixth at 10.88m (35' 8.50"), Lewis was seventh at 10.84m (35' 6.75") and Schuhmeier picked up a top-10 finish with a distance of 10.49m (34' 5.00").
IN OTHER MEN'S ACTION
Travis Smith won the men's shot put with a distance of 18.23m (59' 9.75"), and Carl Nahigian came in 11th (14.71m).
Nahigian came in fourth in the men's weight throw with a distance of 15.64m (51' 3.75"). Chima Ikeme (14.57m) and Uchenna Oniah (14.08m) came in eighth and ninth respectively.
Michael Harris came in ninth in the long jump with a distance of 6.08m (19' 11.50").
Ted Hooper (13.82m) and Michael Harris (12.97m) finished eighth and ninth in the men's triple jump.
Michael Hern (6.98) and Justin Harris (6.99) finished in 14th and 16th place respectively in the men's 60m.
Harris followed that up with an eighth place finish in the men's 200 with a time of 21.95, while Hern (22.68) came in 16th, and Michael Pare's time of 22.93 wsa good enough for a tie for 18th.
Michael Koger picked up a fourth place finish in the men's 400m with a time of 48.93, while Dylan Gates (49.66) came in ninth, BJ Smith (49.88) finished 12th, and Marcus Cummings (50.51) came in 16th.
The Highlanders men's 4x400m relay team of Pare, Gates, Smith and Koger came in second with a time of 3:19.11. That was just .46 behind front-running Arizona State.
Carlos Lopez ran the men's mile in 4:58.07—good enough for an 11th place finish.
