Palm Desert, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team fired a 300 in the first round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Friday to place 21st out of 23 teams with two rounds to go. Full Results.
The Highlanders are only two strokes behind a tie for 17th place, and seven back of a tie for 14th.
Colorado leads the team competition with a 272 while Oregon is second at 276.
UCR's David Gazzolo is tied for 13th with a two-under-par 70 to lead the team.
Brandon Tsujimoto fired a 76 and is tied for 91st, while Leven Simon Seay and Pachara Sakyulyong are tied for 99th with identical 77's.
Jason Semthiti rounds out the squad with a 82 to tie for 122nd.
Colorado's Yannik Paul is the individual leader with a six-under 66.
The second round of the tournament continues Saturday morning.
